Eufrosina Cruz

Deputy

The deputy of Zapotec origin who seeks to govern Oaxaca



Eufrosina Cruz is a Zapotec woman originally from Santa María Quiegolani, in the State of Oaxaca. She become the first woman president of the Board of Directors in the history of the Oaxaca State Legislature. Between 2012 and 2015 she was a Federal Deputy in the LXII Legislature of the Chamber of Deputies and during the same period chaired the Commission on Indigenous Affairs. She has dedicated her work to promoting and defending political rights in Mexico and has been recognized with the 2007 National Youth Award.

She was part of the delegation of the Mexican State together with the President of the Republic, at the High Level Meeting of the General Assembly of the United Nations Organization (UN), at the World Conference on Indigenous Peoples 2014, based in New York City.
