ABOUT

Day One of the Radical Innovation Summit is designed to leverage the wisdom of teams in combining a group of Al/Decentralized Technologies thought leaders, investors, and academics with eight policy think tanks that have submitted policy projects to go through a “hack-a-thon” type process. The outcome of this Day One co-creative process will be policy projects that are more refined, better constructed, and more likely to shape policy discussions and policy frameworks around the world.

Grant is the Co-Executive Director of the Bitcoin Policy Institute. Before founding the Bitcoin Policy Institute, Grant served as the Executive Director of the Bitcoin Advocacy Project and the Co-Director of Policy and Public Affairs at Bitcoin Magazine.

Prior to those roles, Grant was running his own marketing consulting firm and digital marketing agency. He also founded an education startup dedicated to reducing inequity in college admissions. He worked as the CMO for a fintech startup in Silicon Valley, and he was the COO and co-founder of a nonprofit focused on developing an online learning platform for young students.

He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Alabama and his MBA from Johns Hopkins University.

Joseph McKinney is a leader in the "Governance-as-a-Service" Industry, which aims to improve governmental services through Special Economic Zones and Distributed Ledger Technologies.

He launched his career in electoral politics by participating in local, state and national political campaigns. In 2014, Joseph entered the blockchain space and was shortly thereafter introduced to key leaders in the Zone development sector.

In 2015, Joseph founded the Startup Societies Foundation, a nonprofit Zone policy think tank. Under his leadership, SSF hosted over 100 speakers at dozens of sold-out conferences. He now serves as CEO of Nuhanse Network and and recently published his first book on innovative Zones.

How the U.S. SEC's War on Crypto Blunts Beneficial Blockchains from Ukraine to Uganda


John Berlau is a senior fellow and Director of Finance Policy at the Competitive Enterprise Institute. His work focuses on how public policy affects access to capital, entrepreneurship, and investments made by the public and business community alike. In recent years, he has studied the consequences of financial reform efforts passed by Congress like the Sarbanes-Oxley Act, the government’s response to the 2008 financial crisis including Dodd-Frank Acta, the placement of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac into conservatorship, and the rise of cryptocurrency.

He is also the author of the book George Washington: Entrepreneur: How Our Founding Father’s Private Business Pursuits Changed America and the World. The book received rave reviews in the Wall Street Journal and other forums, and was endorsed by eminent historians and scholars such as Richard Brookhiser, Amity Shlaes, and Craig Shirley.

Berlau is an award-winning financial and political journalist. He served as Washington correspondent for Investor’s Business Daily and as a staff writer for Insight magazine, published by The Washington Times. In 2002, he received the Sandy Hume Memorial Award for Excellence in Political Journalism from Washington’s National Press Club. He was a media fellow at the Hoover Institution in 2003. He graduated from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1994 with degrees in journalism and economics.

Felix has already founded several companies, for-profit and non-profit. After studying at the WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management, he went to Berlin and saw a city that was falling short of its potential. There is a lack of understanding of freedom. From 7 years of commitment to freedom (among others with Students For Liberty) he knows that one has to inspire individuals for freedom in order to live in good society in the long term. Felix focuses on the liberal philosophy, entrepreneurship and the little tricks to think and live freely. In addition to his work at the EGO Institute, Felix works as an independent management consultant.

Samuel Hammond is a resident senior fellow. His research focuses on the effectiveness of cash transfers in alleviating poverty, and how free markets can be complemented by robust systems of social insurance. He previously worked as an economist for the Government of Canada specializing in rural economic development, and as a graduate research fellow for the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.

Hammond has received a B.A. in Economics from Saint Mary’s University and M.A.’s in Economics from George Mason University and Carleton University.

Social philosopher dedicated to the study of human coordination and to promoting personal development through a holistic educational perspective, he currently directs the area of Ideas at the Universidad de la Libertad. Master in Political Economy at King's College London, he has more than 10 years of experience in research and teaching on topics related to liberalism. In addition to extensive dissemination work on its relevance through articles and conferences on democracy, freedom and justice.

Its main focus has been on the creation of spaces for discussion and dissemination of economic, political, and social issues around the idea of a free society, with an emphasis on creating value for society through multidisciplinary cooperation spaces and educational experiences. He has participated and developed training and dissemination projects with organizations such as the Atlas Network, the Cato Institute, the Center for the Philosophy of Freedom, Caminos de la Libertad, the Institute for Humane Studies, Liberty Fund or the Movimiento Libertario de México. He develops social studies curriculum for Certell and is part of the development team for a Liberal Arts program at Huntington Junior College, West Virginia. He is a member of the Mont Pelerin Society and the Association of Private Enterprise Education, as well as being director of the Bastiat Society's Mexico City chapter.

SHARK TANK COMPETITION

The Radical Innovation Summit Shark Tank Competition is designed to harness the collective knowledge of the assembled teams, by combining a select group of thought leaders, investors, and academics in the areas of artificial intelligence and decentralized technologies. Eight teams will present their projects and the team with the most far-reaching proposal that allows for a creative and intelligent dialogue will be the winner of USD 15,000.



Throughout the day the teams will be divided into eight work stations. Different thought leaders, investors and academics will approach each team to help them strengthen the project idea, allowing and promoting a space for discussion of public policies related to decentralized technologies and innovation.
