The second edition of Festival de las Ideas, Puebla 2023, has begun!

Today has begun the second edition of Festival de las Ideas, Puebla 2023, an initiative of Centro Ricardo B. Salinas Pliego in collaboration with the Government of the State of Puebla through the Secretariats of Tourism, Planning and Finance, Economy, Culture and Education. Under the motto "Ideas que liberan” (Ideas that liberates), the Auditorio Metropolitano de Puebla receives the most important figures of current thought to inspire us.

SEGMENT FREEDOM AND PROSPERITY

The first segment was dedicated to freedom and prosperity. Yoani Sánchez shared the chronicle of 11J, a day of protest and indignation that meant a before and after on the island of Cuba. To continue, we listened to Johan Norberg, one of the most influential thinkers of our time, who shared the importance of being open to new ways of thinking in order to create more successful societies. Celina de Sola, the co-founder and president of Glasswing, spoke about the Latin American context and how violence impacts the health, productivity, and well-being of the population.
The founder of The Accidental Creative, Todd Henry, talked about how solving problems on a day-to-day basis is one of the main characteristics of creative people. To introduce the last speaker, the trailer for the movie “Lion” was shown, based on the moving story of Saroo Brierley, whose life is an example of determination and courage.

SEGMENT ART

The art segment began with Félix Hernández, the art director who talked about his dreams and how they inspire his artistic work. The renowned director of photography at Pixar animation studios, Danielle Feinberg spoke about her experience as a director of photography at Pixar animation studios.
Finally, the filmmaker, explorer and CEO of Lightstorm Entertainment, James Cameron, moved the audience with his presence and talked about how ideas are nothing if they are not put into practice. To close the first day of activities, the content creator and film enthusiast, Javier Ibarreche, interviewed the director of Avatar, regarding the significance of his films years after they were made.

Thus concluded the first day of activities and on Friday, March 10, starting at 10 in the morning, Festival de las Ideas, Puebla 2023 will continue.
