The most outstanding figures of the moment have gathered at the Festival de las Ideas, Puebla 2024!



To begin the program, the Orquesta Sinfónica y Coro del Instituto Superior de Música Esperanza Azteca splendidly performed Three fragments of Bizet's opera Carmen. Beth Davies, one of the world's great business leaders and consultants in development, training and innovation, raised the need to learn throughout life because each person is their career and their responsibility for growth. Finally, Magnús Scheving, the entrepreneur and motivational actor present in more than 500 million homes around the world, closed the segment with the conference “The world needs new ideas,” in which the “Sportacus” interpreter emphasized his speech in how to be a better person physically, mentally and spiritually by trying something new.



Robert Waldinger, the brilliant psychiatrist and one of the world's leading happiness researchers, began the health segment by commenting that human connection is an important source of happiness. Dan Buettner, the explorer, creator of the Blue Zones and international expert on longevity and happiness, made a compilation of the Blue Zones in the world and their characteristics. For his part, Harvard professor and the world's leading expert on human longevity, David Sinclair, in his keynote talk talked about the relationship between epigenetics and aging, comparing this last with loss of data on a CD. Finally, the panel that discussed aging, consists of Nalini Chilkov, Ernesto Prieto, Dan Buettner, David Sinclair and as moderator Serena Poon, reflected on the diseases that reduce longevity and how far human beings can live.




The segment opened with the novel musical performance of Shimon Robot, the world's first musical robot that sings and composes songs, which amazed festival attendees. Then, Nina Tandon, the revolutionary biomedical engineer whose company grows living human tissue, she explained that in 5 years it will be possible to have transplants with artificial bones. For her part, Merritt Moore excited the audience in the auditorium with her presentation and with the dancing robots, and delved into why she decided to combine her two passions in an activity with great potential, inspiring the attendees. Likewise, the innovator and creator of out-of-this-world ideas, Duncan Wardle, addressed the topic of working harmoniously with artificial intelligence and additionally carried out a dynamic with the public that consisted of finding key characteristics of creativity. Finally, Marc Raibert, renowned creator of the most advanced dynamic robots in the world, and Spot “the robot dog” fascinated the public with the exhibition that left everyone amazed at the capacity that robotics is achieving and what will come in the future.
