Javier Alatorre

The TV Azteca Star News Program with the Longest Duration on Air on Mexican Television

"You must take the side of the people, otherwise this does not work as it should, the social work that the media has, that the news programs have, is not fulfilled. We had to take care of the victims of a hurricane, the peasants without support, the community without a decent school and even the victims of war in other countries."
-Javier Alatorre Soria

On February 21, 1994, Hechos con Javier Alatorre began, the star news program of TV Azteca and the spearhead of the television station's mission.

Since then, Javier Alatorre has positioned himself as a different opinion leader, truthful, objective and close to the population.

Hechos established a new way of presenting news on television, giving way to a warm, agile style, challenging orthodox television schemes. It turned the citizens into protagonists of the news.

In 30 years, Fuerza Informativa Azteca and its newscast Hechos con Javier Alatorre have covered the historical events that changed the world. From the attacks on the Twin Towers to the death of Saddam Hussein, the wars in Iraq, Bosnia, Afghanistan or royal weddings and coronations, as well as elections and political changes that have marked challenges to democracy and freedom. Javier Alatorre announced, before anyone else in the world, the death of Pope John Paul II.

Its reporters, Jaime Guerrero, Edgar Galicia, Maxi Pelaez, Armando Guzmán, Reynaldo Lara, Lucero Rodríguez and Federico Anaya, have become references for Mexican families. 10,950 days later and with 7,265 broadcasts, Hechos con Javier Alatorre is the longest-running news program on Mexican television. Reason for pride for all members of Fuerza Informativa Azteca and TV Azteca.
