Alejandro Valenzuela

Chairman of the Board of Banco Azteca, a Banking Institution that Promotes World-Class Financial Services

Alejandro Valenzuela is an economist from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and holds a PhD in Administration from the University of Paris.

He was a public servant at the Bank of Mexico and at the Secretariat of Finance and Public Credit for more than 13 years. In the private sector, he has held various positions, including CEO of Grupo Financiero Banorte for almost 7 years.

From January 2015 to February 2024, he headed the General Management of Banco Azteca and Azteca Servicios Financieros. He is currently Chairman of the Board of Banco Azteca.

As an academic, he has taught at the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico (ITAM), Ibero-American University (UIA) and Center for Latin American Monetary Studies (CEMLA). In addition to his professional and teaching activities, he chaired, for 12 years, the Advisory Board of the Fundación IMSS.

He is an active member of other non-profit philanthropic and/or social organizations, to which he dedicates part of his free time.
